Das Three Ships-Sortiment umfasst Blended und Single Malt Whiskys. Three Ships ist im Besitz von Distell, einem multinationalen Brauerei- und Getr\u00e4nkeunternehmen mit Sitz in S\u00fcdafrika. Als f\u00fchrender Akteur in der s\u00fcdafrikanischen Whisky-Arena ist die James Sedgwick Distillery die einzig kommerzielle Whisky-Destillerie in Afrika. Hier, eingebettet zwischen den schroffen Bergen und den rollenden Getreidefeldern, geschieht Whisky-Magie. Unter Verwendung des reinen Wassers des nahe gelegenen Flusses am Berg und unter Ausnutzung des warmen Klimas der Region hat die Brennerei eine Reihe von Whiskys kreiert, die internationale Anerkennung gefunden haben. Hierf\u00fcr u.a. verantwortlich zeichnet sich Andy Watts. Er ist derzeit der Master Distiller und erst der 6. seit der Gr\u00fcndung der Brennerei im Jahr 1886. Eines dieser preisgekr\u00f6nten Angebote von Distell bzw. aus der James Sedgwick Distillery ist die Three Ships-Reihe, die Blends und Single Malts umfasst, die sich einen Platz auf der Weltkarte des Whiskys gesichert haben. Die W\u00e4rme des s\u00fcdafrikanischen Klimas beschleunigt den Reifeprozess und erm\u00f6glicht es dem Whisky, in k\u00fcrzerer Zeit als in k\u00fchleren Gefilden eine Tiefe und Komplexit\u00e4t des Geschmacks zu entwickeln. Er reifte ein Dutzend Jahre lang in einer Auswahl amerikanischer Whiskeyf\u00e4sser und wurde mit 46,3 Vol.-% abgef\u00fcllt. Ihr Brennmeister, Andy Watts, destillierte 2007 gem\u00e4lzte Gerste in kupfernen Brennblasen und reifte die Spirituose hingebungsvoll. Die Wahl des Holzes spielte eine wichtige Rolle bei der Bestimmung des endg\u00fcltigen Geschmacks, der Farbe und des Charakters des Whiskys&#8230; und hier w\u00e4hlte Andy eine Kombination aus \u00e4lteren und j\u00fcngeren kleinen amerikanischen Eichenf\u00e4ssern.<br \/>\nObwohl das w\u00e4rmere s\u00fcdafrikanische Klima zu einem viel h\u00f6heren \u00ab\u00a0Angels share\u00a0\u00bb f\u00fchrt, entsteht durch die beschleunigte Wechselwirkung zwischen Spirituose, Fass und Atmosph\u00e4re ein spektakul\u00e4rer Single Malt mit Geschmackstiefe, Ausgewogenheit und au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlicher Geschmeidigkeit.<br \/>\nIn der Nase kann man \u00ab\u00a0Biskuitkuchen mit Sahne und Marmelade, dazu noch etwas Aprikose. Sp\u00e4ter weht ein Hauch Rauch herein&#8230;\u00a0\u00bb wahrnehmen. Gefolgt von \u00ab\u00a0rauchigen Noten am Gaumen, etwas vordergr\u00fcndiger, obwohl duftende Vanille und Honig das Sagen haben\u00a0\u00bb am Gaumen, pr\u00e4sentiert sich der Abgang mit \u00ab\u00a0Apfel-, Kaffee- und Walnusskuchen, sowie ein Hauch von Waldboden\u00a0\u00bb.
