Das Brennen ist Familientradition und begann 1867 mit der Anschaffung einer Mostpresse. Die Farthofer Brennerei blickt auf eine \u00fcber 100-j\u00e4hrige Familientradition im Schnapsbrennen zur\u00fcck, deren Wurzeln bis ins Jahr 1867 reichen. Damals legten Katharina und Ignaz Str\u00e4\u00dfler mit der Anschaffung einer Mostpresse den Grundstein f\u00fcr die sp\u00e4tere Most- und Schnapsproduktion.<\/p>\n<p>In den 1970er-Jahren verlor die Mostproduktion an Bedeutung, doch die Familie hielt an der Obstveredelung fest. Josef Farthofer, der heutige Brennmeister und Nachfahre in 5. Generation, entdeckte fr\u00fch seine Leidenschaft f\u00fcr das Handwerk. Bereits mit 18 Jahren investierte er in Ger\u00e4tschaften f\u00fcr das Familienunternehmen und begann mit der Herstellung von Apfel- und Birnenmost sowie alkoholfreien S\u00e4ften. Die eigene Brennerei im \u00f6sterreichischen Mostviertel betreibt Farthofer seit 2003. Die Produktpalette umfasst neben Edelbr\u00e4nden Wodka, Rum und Gin. Seit 2011 produziert der experimentierfreudige \u00d6sterreicher auch seinen eigenen Whisky.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt: <\/strong>Das Thema Nachhaltigkeit wird bei Farthofer gro\u00dfgeschrieben. Die Brennerei setzte von Anfang an auf Bio und wird seit 2003 kontrolliert und zertifiziert von der Austria Bio Garantie. Das Wasser f\u00fcr die Herstellung ihres Whiskys bezieht die Brennerei aus der familieneigenen Quelle, die sich auf ihrem Grundst\u00fcck in einem Naturschutzgebiet befindet. Der Familienbetrieb nutzt zudem erneuerbare Energien wie \u00d6kostrom und Photovoltaik und betreibt eine Hackschnitzelheizung mit selbst angebautem Elefantengras und Obstkernen. Nebenprodukte aus der Produktion finden eine weitere Verwendung als D\u00fcnger, Viehfutter oder zur Herstellung von Lik\u00f6ren. Alles aus einer Hand getreu dem Motto \u201eVom Feld in die Flasche\u201c.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: 2018 Double Cask Mostello Finish (Bio)<br \/>\n<\/strong>F\u00fcr ihre Whiskys verwendet die Fahrthofer Destillerie Urgetreide aus eigener Bio-Landwirtschaft, das sie auch selbst m\u00e4lzen. Der Farthofer Double Cask Whisky reift zun\u00e4chst in frisch ausgekohlten Rotweinf\u00e4ssern und erh\u00e4lt anschlie\u00dfend ein besonderes Finish in Mostello-F\u00e4ssern.
