Destille: Ben Nevis
\n<\/strong>Die Ben Nevis Distillery ist eine Whisky-Destillerie in Fort William, Schottland. Es liegt am Fu\u00dfe des Ben Nevis, dem h\u00f6chsten Berg der Britischen Inseln, der sich bis zu 1.345 m (4.413 ft) \u00fcber dem Meeresspiegel erhebt. Die Destillerie ist eine K\u00fcstenbrennerei in den westlichen Highlands und bezieht ihr Wasser aus dem Allt a’Mhuilinn, der aus zwei Becken am Ben Nevis, Coire Leis und Coire na’Ciste, stammt. Es wurde 1825 als unabh\u00e4ngiges Unternehmen gegr\u00fcndet und ist seit 1989 im Besitz von Nikka Whisky Distilling aus Tokio, Japan. Das Herzst\u00fcck des Sortiments ist seit einiger Zeit das 10 Jahre alte. Es gab auch einige Fassveredelungen, limitierte Editionen und unabh\u00e4ngige Abf\u00fcllungen, insbesondere von Blackadder und Douglas Laing. 1991 wurde ein Besucherzentrum und ein Caf\u00e9 f\u00fcr die \u00d6ffentlichkeit er\u00f6ffnet. J\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: 2,0 Mio. Liter.<\/p>\n

Fun Fakt:\u00a0<\/strong>Die Washbacks bei Ben Nevis sind aus Holz und (was noch wichtiger ist) es wird Bierhefe verwendet, was sie zur letzten Destillerie in Schottland macht, die auf dieser alten Art der G\u00e4rung besteht. Die Destillation erfolgt langsam und gleichm\u00e4\u00dfig und ergibt ein reichhaltiges, tiefes Destillat.<\/p>\n

Whisky\/Whiskey: Single Malt (McDonald’s Traditionel Edition)
\n<\/strong>Der Ben Nevis MacDonalds Traditional wurde anl\u00e4sslich des 185. Geburtstags der Brennerei kreiert. Ein stattliches Alter f\u00fcr eine Brennerei, das vom Erfolg der Highland Destillerie zeugt. Vielleicht auch deswegen ist dieser Whisky ein echter Geheimtipp unter Liebhabern. Optisch sehr traditionell gehalten, erinnert sie tats\u00e4chlich an einen Scotch Whisky aus einer anderen \u00c4ra. Denn mit dieser Abf\u00fcllung wollte man dem alten McDonald’s Traditional Tribut zollen, der in den 1880er Jahren \u00e4u\u00dferst beliebt war. Dieser tolle, komplexe Highland Whisky wurde vermutlich mit einem hohen Anteil Sherryf\u00e4sser kreiert. Bet\u00f6ren uns doch viele klassische Aromen in diesem Whisky, die wir aus der Sherryfassreifung kennen. Pfirsich und Aprikose, viele spannende Gew\u00fcrze und dunkle rote Fr\u00fcchte legen diese Vermutung nahe. Unter allem liegt ein wunderbar eingebundener Rauch. Wie es sich f\u00fcr einen kr\u00e4ftigen Highlander geh\u00f6rt, wurde der Whisky mit 46 % vol. abgef\u00fcllt und keiner K\u00fchlfilterung unterzogen.<\/p>\n
