Laphroaig liegt an einer kleinen naturbelassenen Bucht. Die Destillerie wurde offiziell 1815 von den Br\u00fcdern Donald und Alex Johnston gegr\u00fcndet. Urspr\u00fcnglich war sie eine Farm-Brennerei f\u00fcr den Eigenbedarf. Schon der Vater John der beiden Gr\u00fcnder errichtete eine der beiden illegalen Brennereien, aus denen sp\u00e4ter Lagavulin wurde. Au\u00dferdem gab es von 1837 bis 1868 auf dem von der Destillerie genutzten Gel\u00e4nde eine weitere Brennerei: Die alte Ardenistiel Distillery von Andrew und James Gairdner, die auch als Kildalton Distillery (1849\u20131852) und Islay Distillery (1852\u20131866) bekannt wurde. Das Wasser f\u00fcr die Herstellung stammte aus dem Sanaig Burn, welcher damals auch Laphroaig als Wasserquelle diente. 1923 wurden zwei Stills angeschafft und 1969 zwei weitere. 1974 kam die letzte Brennblase hinzu, womit die Anzahl auf insgesamt sieben stieg. Als Long John Distillers 1975 in Whitbread aufgingen, welches wiederum zu Allied Domecq geh\u00f6rte, wechselte auch f\u00fcr Laphroaig der Eigent\u00fcmer. Allied Domecq wurde 2005 von Pernod Ricard \u00fcbernommen. Um die Auflagen des Kartellamtes zu erf\u00fcllen, trennte sich Pernod Ricard von Laphroaig. Dadurch wurde Beam Global Spirits &amp; Wine, eine Tochter von Fortune Brands, der neue Eigent\u00fcmer. Ende April 2014 schloss der japanische Getr\u00e4nkekonzern Suntory die \u00dcbernahme von Beam Global ab. Seitdem z\u00e4hlt Laphroaig zum Portfolio von Suntory. J\u00e4hrliche Produktionsmenge: ca. 2,7 Millionen Liter Alkohol.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt 1: <\/strong>Adelig&#8230; Seit 1994 ist Laphroaig Hoflieferant des Prince of Wales f\u00fcr Single-Malt-Whisky.<br \/>\n<strong>Fun fact 2:<\/strong> Starke Frau!!! Die Brennerei blieb bis 1954 im Familienbesitz der Johnstons. Der letzte aus dem Johnston-Clan, Ian Hunter, hinterlie\u00df die Firma seiner Sekret\u00e4rin Bessie Williamson. Diese verkaufte 1967 an Long John Distillers und f\u00fchrte die Destille weiter, bis sie sich 1972 zur Ruhe setzte.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: PX Cask<br \/>\n<\/strong>Es wird maritim und GRO\u00df!!!! Laphroaig in der 1 Liter Flasche&#8230; und aus dem Jubil\u00e4umsjahr&#8230; Nach einer Reifung in amerikanischen Eichenf\u00e4ssern und sp\u00e4terer Umlagerung in Quarter Casks erhielt der Laphroaig PX Cask ein Finish in ehemaligen Pedro Ximenez Sherryf\u00e4ssern &#8211; die erste Laphroaig Abf\u00fcllung, die in diesem Fasstyp gefinished wurde UND&#8230; Jim Murray gab diesem Whisk(e)y 96 Punkte.\ud83c\udf89<br \/>\n\u201cRauch und Eiche mit wiederkehrenden, s\u00fc\u00dfen Sherrykl\u00e4ngen, sowie trocken und rauchig mit Sherry und Eiche im Abgang&#8230;\u201d\ud83d\udd25.
