Destille: Catoctin Creek<\/strong>
\nDie Catoctin Creek Distilling Company, die unter dem Handelsnamen Catoctin Creek firmiert, ist die erste legale Brennerei in Loudoun County, Virginia seit der Prohibition. Die Destillerie ist eine zertifizierte Bio- und \u00ab\u00a0koschere\u00a0\u00bb Mikrodestillerie in Purcellville, USA. Neben Brandy stellt Catoctin Creek auch Rye Whiskey und Gin aus lokalen Fr\u00fcchten, Bio-Getreide und Virginia-Wein her. Die Destillerie wurde 2009 von Scott und Rebecca Harris gegr\u00fcndet. Anfangs arbeitete das Unternehmen mit speziell angefertigten 400- und 1200-Liter-Kothe-Hybrid-Pot-Column-Stills. Im Jahr 2012 kaufte die Destillerie das historische Case Building (erbaut 1921) an der Main Street in Purcellville und renovierte das Geb\u00e4ude als Heimat ihrer neuen Destillerie.
\nIm Jahr 2017 gab die Destillerie einen neuen Minderheitspartner und Investor bekannt, Constellation Brands aus Victor, New York. Scott und Rebecca Harris, die Mitbegr\u00fcnder, bleiben die Mehrheitseigent\u00fcmer und Manager des Unternehmens. Im Jahr 2021 modernisierte das Unternehmen seine Produktionsanlagen und verdreifachte seine Kapazit\u00e4t, darunter einen neuen Maischekocher, Fermenter und eine 2000-Liter-Hybrid-Topfkolbendestille von Specific Engineering, die die \u00e4ltere 400-Liter-Brennblase ersetzt.<\/p>\n

Fun fact:<\/strong> W\u00e4hrend der COVID-19-Pandemie und eines anschlie\u00dfenden Mangels an Desinfektionsprodukten im M\u00e4rz 2020 verlagerte Catoctin Creek den gr\u00f6\u00dften Teil seiner Produktionsabl\u00e4ufe, um \u00fcber 100 Familien, sechs Polizeistationen, zwei Rettungsdienste, zwei Krankenh\u00e4user, ein Seniorenzentrum und die FAA in Leesburg, Virginia, mit kostenlosem Desinfektionsalkohol zu versorgen. Anstatt Mitarbeiter zu entlassen, stellte das Management regionale Vertriebsmitarbeiter ein, um an der Produktionslinie zu helfen, w\u00e4hrend es mit gew\u00e4hlten Vertretern zusammenarbeitete, um Flaschen an bed\u00fcrftige Organisationen zu verteilen.
\nNach der Herstellung, Abf\u00fcllung und dem Verkauf von Handdesinfektionsmitteln in gro\u00dfen Mengen an Ersthelfer Ende M\u00e4rz k\u00fcndigte Catoctin Creek Anfang April die Freigabe seiner von der FDA zugelassenen 6-Unzen-Handdesinfektionsmittelflaschen f\u00fcr die breite \u00d6ffentlichkeit an, die innerhalb von drei Wochen ausverkauft waren. Am Ende stellte Catoctin Creek \u00fcber 2.050 Gallonen Desinfektionsmittel zur Verf\u00fcgung.<\/p>\n

Whisky\/Whiskey: Roundstone Single Barrel Virginia Rye
\n<\/strong>Dieser Catoctin Creek ist ein Rye Whisky aus den USA. Der Hauptbestandteil des Whiskys ist Roggen. Der Catoctin Creek ist nicht rauchig. Der Whisky wurde mit relativ sanften 40% Vol. in die Flasche gebracht. Das sorgt f\u00fcr den milden Charakter dieser Abf\u00fcllung. Hier wurde nicht nachgeholfen. Die Farbe kam lediglich \u00fcber die Fassreifung zustande. Der Whisky wurde nicht k\u00fchlgefiltert, somit erhalten Sie noch das volle Aroma des Catoctin Creek. Da es sich um ein Single Cask handelt, ist die Flaschenanzahl entsprechend limitiert. Die hier angebotene Flasche hat das Batch No. 21A33.
\nDas Aroma wird gepr\u00e4gt durch \u00ab\u00a0intensive Vanille und Mokka, mit Noten von Minze, junger Eiche und Tabak\u00a0\u00bb. Im Geschmack kommen \u00ab\u00a0Bananen- und Walnussbrot, mehr Vanille, gefolgt von Zimt und pfeffrigen Gew\u00fcrzen\u00a0\u00bb zum Vorschein. Der Abgang zeichnet sich dann durch \u00ab\u00a0W\u00fcrze voller Eiche und butterigem Karamell\u00a0\u00bb aus.<\/p>\n
