Destille: Girvan
\n<\/span><\/strong>Die Girvan Distillery ist eine Whiskybrennerei in South Ayrshire, Schottland. Die Destillerie ist im Besitz von William Grant & Sons. Die Girvan Distillery ist eine der gr\u00f6\u00dften und energieeffizientesten Anlagen in ganz Schottland. Die Brennerei ist nach der Stadt Girvan benannt. Im Jahre 1963 startete die Installation & Abf\u00fcllung des ersten Whiskys aus den Coffey Stills der Destillerie. Unter der genauen Beobachtung von Charles Grant Gordon wurde die Girvan-Destillerie gebaut und produzierte innerhalb von rekordverd\u00e4chtigen 9 Monaten nach dem Spatenstich den ersten Alkohol. Aktuelles j\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: ca. 115 Mio. Liter.<\/p>\n

Fun Fact: <\/strong>William Grant & Sons baute seine Girvan-Destillerie nach einem seltsamen Streit zwischen der Familie Grant und DCL (Distillers Company Ltd.). Der Legende nach hatten die Grant’s beschlossen, einen TV-Spot f\u00fcr ihre Marke \u00ab\u00a0Standfast\u00a0\u00bb im kommerziellen Fernsehen zu schalten. DCL \u00e4rgerte sich \u00fcber diese Show des krassen Kommerzialismus und reagierte mit dem Stopp der Getreidelieferungen f\u00fcr den Standfast Whisky. Aus der Not heraus entschied dann die Familie Grant eine neue Destillerie, die Girvan Distillery, aufzubauen.

Whisky\/Whiskey: Half ‘n’ Half 2009 \/ Crafted Blend (Murray McDavid)<\/strong>
\nDer Hauptbestandteil des Blended Whiskys ist Getreide. Der Murray McDavid ist nicht rauchig. Der Whisky wurde mit anst\u00e4ndigen 46% Vol. in die Flasche gebracht. Das sorgt f\u00fcr den vollmundigen Charakter dieser Spirituose. Dank der Reifung im Bourbonfass spielen gerade Toffee und Karamell eine Rolle im Bouquet dieses Whiskys. W\u00e4hrend das Finish f\u00fcr Trockenfruchtnoten und Gew\u00fcrzaromen sorgt. Hier wurde nicht nachgeholfen. Die sch\u00f6ne Farbe kam lediglich \u00fcber die Fassreifung zustande. Ein weiterer Punkt, an dem Sie die Qualit\u00e4t eines Whiskys festmachen k\u00f6nnen: Wenn auf K\u00e4ltefiltration verzichtet wurde. Dies ist hier der Fall. Die Jahrgangsabf\u00fcllung stammt aus dem Jahr 2009. Die Reifezeit betrug somit ausgewogene 10 Jahre. Damit hatte der Whisky genug Zeit, ein vielf\u00e4ltiges Aroma zu entwickeln. Von diesem Whisky gibt es nur 1.466 Flaschen. Und bei Murray McDavid gilt immer… solange der Vorrat noch reicht.<\/p>\n

Sidenote zum Abf\u00fcller:<\/strong> Murray McDavid wurde von den Londoner Weinh\u00e4ndlern Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin und Gordon Wright (von der Springbank Distillery) gegr\u00fcndet. Sie erlangten schnell den Ruf, Whisky in interessanten F\u00e4ssern (wie Weinf\u00e4sser) zu reifen. Im Jahr 2000 machte sich das Murray McDavid-Team daran, die geschlossene Bruichladdich Distillery auf Islay wiederzuer\u00f6ffnen, die im Jahr 2012 an den Spirituosenriesen Remy Cointreau verkauft wurde. Heute befindet sich Murray McDavid im Besitz des schottischen Whisky-Brokers Aceo Ltd.<\/p>\n
