Destille: Balvenie
\n<\/strong>Die in Dufftown, Banffshire, Schottland ans\u00e4ssige Whisky Brennerei produziert bereits seit 1892 Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Der Name Balvenie bedeutet so viel wie \u00ab\u00a0Dorf des Gl\u00fccks\u00a0\u00bb. Gegr\u00fcndet wurde Balvenie von keinem geringeren als William J. Grant, der bereits ebenfalls Glenfiddich gr\u00fcndete. Um Kosten zu sparen verwendete man bei Balvenie zun\u00e4chst gebrauchte Brennblasen aus den Brennereien Lagavulin und Glen Albyn. Heute verf\u00fcgt die Brennerei \u00fcber insgesamt neun eigene Brennblasen.<\/p>\n

Fun fact No.1:<\/strong> von der Konkurrenz… Bei der Errichtung von Balvenie musste man streng aufs Budget achten. Daher war die Anschaffung f\u00fcr neue Brennblasen zu teuer, also fragte man bei der Konkurrenz nach und verwendete kosteng\u00fcnstige gebrauchte Brennblasen von Lagavulin und Glen Albyn.<\/p>\n

Fun fact No.2:<\/strong> Holz-Pionier… Balvenie war eine der ersten Destillerien, die mit der Einf\u00fchrung von Double Wood im Jahr 1993 einen \u00ab\u00a0fertigen\u00a0\u00bb Single Malt einf\u00fchrte, der zun\u00e4chst in Ex-Bourbon-F\u00e4ssern reifte, bevor er eine kurze Phase der zweiten Reifung (aka Finishing) in Ex-Sherry erhielt.<\/p>\n

Whisky\/Whiskey: 12yo \/ DoubleWood 2003<\/strong>
\nDer Balvenie Double Wood ist einer der beliebtesten Speyside Single Malt Whiskys. Er reifte 12 Jahre lange in Ex-Bourbonf\u00e4ssern aus amerikanischem Eichenholz und in Hogsheads. Im Anschluss hat die Brennerei ihm ein Finish in Oloroso-Sherryf\u00e4ssern aus spanischer Eiche spendiert. Abgef\u00fcllt hat sie ihn bei einem milden Alkoholgehalt von 40,0 Volumenprozent.
