Eigent\u00fcmer und Betreiber der Brennerei ist Beam Suntory, eine amerikanische Tochtergesellschaft der Suntory Holdings aus Osaka, Japan. Die Brennerei wurde 1898 von William Teachers Sohn Adam gebaut, um die F\u00fcllungen f\u00fcr ihre Mischung Teacher&rsquo;s Highland Cream zu sichern (von der sie nach wie vor der Hauptbestandteil ist). Die Brennerei verf\u00fcgte bis Mitte der 1970er Jahre \u00fcber eigene M\u00e4lzereien und bis Ende der 1980er Jahre \u00fcber eine eigene K\u00fcferei. Sie wurde mehrfach vergr\u00f6\u00dfert und wuchs \u00fcber die Jahre erstaunlich. Daher ist Ardmore heute eine gro\u00dfe viktorianische Destillerie, deren Gr\u00f6\u00dfe angesichts ihrer sanften und l\u00e4ndlichen Umgebung \u00fcberraschend ist. Stilistisch eine echte Rarit\u00e4t \u2013 denn Ardmore steht f\u00fcr \u00ab\u00a0getorften\u00a0\u00bb Highland Malt Whisky. J\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: ca. 5,5 Mio. Liter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt:\u00a0<\/strong>Ardmore befand sich jahrelang im \u00ab\u00a0Stall\u00a0\u00bb von Teacher und lieferte den \u00ab\u00a0Rauch und die Kopfnoten\u00a0\u00bb f\u00fcr die jeweiligen Mischungen. Hauptm\u00e4rkte von Ardmore sind weder Schottland, Europa oder USA&#8230; sondern Indien und Brasilien!<br \/>\nDie Destille wuchs und wuchs und wuchs&#8230; Das urspr\u00fcngliche Paar Destillierapparate wurde 1955 verdoppelt und 1974 sogar vervierfacht. Dennoch befeuerte man die Brennblasen bis 2001 mit Kohle. In Schottland die vorletzte Brennerei, die dies tat bevor sie alle umstellten.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: 12yo Portwood Finish<br \/>\n<\/strong>Der Ardmore Portwood Finish Single Malt Whisky ist ein au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlicher Tropfen aus der Ardmore-Destillerie in den Highlands von Schottland. Er wurde aus 100% malzigem Gerstenmalz hergestellt und anschlie\u00dfend f\u00fcr fast 12 Jahre in ex-Bourbon-F\u00e4ssern gelagert, bevor er f\u00fcr eine weitere Periode in F\u00e4ssern aus Portweinreben aus dem Douro-Tal in Portugal reifte. \u00dcblicherweise reift die Brennerei ihre Malts in Quarter Casks nach.
