Die Destillerie befindet sich derzeit im Besitz von Inverhouse Distillers Ltd.<br \/>\nDie Brennerei wurde 1892 von John Morrison gegr\u00fcndet. Nachdem 1893 in den Knock Hills geeignete Quellen entdeckt wurden, ging Knockdhu 1894 in die Produktion. 1898 wurden wegen des damaligen Whisky-Booms zus\u00e4tzliche Lagerh\u00e4user gebaut. Die Brennerei blieb in den 30er und 80er Jahren f\u00fcr einige Zeit geschlossen; w\u00e4hrend des Zweiten Weltkriegs und der damit verbundenen Getreiderationierung wurde ebenfalls nicht produziert. 1960 ersetzte ein Traktor das Brennereipferd. 1988 erwarb Inverhouse Distillers die Destillerie, die zu diesem Zeitpunkt 5 Jahre geschlossen war. 1990 wurde der erste Whisky als Single Malt (noch unter dem Namen Knockdhu) abgef\u00fcllt; bis dahin war der Whisky von Knockdhu ein beliebter Bestandteil von Blends. Seit 1993 wird der Single Malt von Knockdhu als An Cnoc vermarktet. Die j\u00e4hrliche Produktion bel\u00e4uft sich auf 992.000 Liter Whisky.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt: <\/strong>Abgemahnt und umgenannt&#8230; anCnoc (Marketingaussprache: annok) ist g\u00e4lisch [\u0259n\u032a\u02e0 \u02c8k\u027e\u0254\u0303xg] und bedeutet \u201eder H\u00fcgel\u201c. Das Ungew\u00f6hnliche an diesem Whisky aus den \u00f6stlichen Highlands (an der Grenze zur Speyside) ist, dass er nicht den Namen seiner Brennerei tr\u00e4gt, was sonst eine selbstverst\u00e4ndliche Tradition f\u00fcr schottische Whisky-Destillerien ist. Bis Anfang der 1990er Jahre allerdings war das noch der Fall, aber seit 1993 wird der Single Malt der Knockdhu-Brennerei unter dem Namen anCnoc abgef\u00fcllt, angeblich wegen einer Abmachung mit den Besitzern der Knockando-Destillerie, die damit Verwechslungen mit ihrem eigenen Malt verhindern wollten.<br \/>\nKnockdhu wiederum hei\u00dft etwa \u201eschwarzer Berg\u201c, was wohl von dem \u00fcber 400 Meter hohen Berg Knock Hill abgeleitet wird, der unweit der Brennerei in der N\u00e4he des \u00d6rtchens Knock steht.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: anCnoc Ingredients Peter Arkle 1st Edition<br \/>\n<\/strong>Der anCnoc Ingredients ist ein Limited Edition Whisky aus der Knockdhu-Brennerei. Sie hat ihn in Kooperation mit dem schottischen Illustratoren Peter Arkle entwickelt und 2012 ver\u00f6ffentlicht. Er ist zugleich die erste Ausgabe der Serie und reifte in Sherry Casks. Abgef\u00fcllt hat die Destillerie ihn ungefiltert und ungef\u00e4rbt bei einem Alkoholgehalt von 46,0 Volumenprozent. Gerade einmal 6.000 Flaschen gab es weltweit zu kaufen.<br \/>\nDer Nase gibt sich der Whisky mit reichhaltigen Aromen hin. Er duftet nach Gew\u00fcrzen und nach Fr\u00fcchtekuchen. Dahinter liegen cremige Vanille und nach Toffee. Gr\u00fcne \u00c4pfel und Blutorangen sind pr\u00e4sent. Der anCnoc Peter Arkle Edition No.1 legt sich vollmundig auf die Zunge. Der Scotch schmeckt nach sonnengetrockneten Rosinen und nach s\u00fc\u00dfem Honig. Vanilleeis und Karamellsauce dringen durch.<br \/>\nDer Abgang der Ingredients Limited Edition ist langanhaltend. Der Whisky verabschiedet sich dunklen Fr\u00fcchten.
