Die Destillerie wurde 1846 von Hector Henderson gegr\u00fcndet. 1854 wechselte Caol Ila den Besitzer. Norman Buchanan, Besitzer der Isle of Jura Distillery, \u00fcbernahm die Leitung. Im Jahr 1863 wurde das Unternehmen von Bulloch Lade &amp; Co aus Glasgow \u00fcbernommen, einem H\u00e4ndler von Whisky-Aktien. 1920 ging Bulloch Lade pleite und ein Konsortium von Gesch\u00e4ftsleuten gr\u00fcndete die Caol Ila Distillery Company Ltd. 1927 erwarb die Distillers Company eine Mehrheitsbeteiligung an Caol Ila und 1930 erwarb die Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd alle Anteile. Heute geh\u00f6rt die Brennerei zum gro\u00dfen Whisky-Konzern Diageo. J\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: ca. 6,5 Mio. Litern pro Jahr.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt:\u00a0<\/strong>Famili\u00e4re Angelegenheiten auf Islay&#8230; Laut der Volksz\u00e4hlung von 1871 war Duncan Johnston zu dieser Zeit der Manager der Destillerie. Duncan war der Neffe von John Johnston aus Lagavulin und Cousin der Laphroaig Johnstons.<br \/>\n<strong>Fun fact No.2:<\/strong> Caol Ila ist eine der wenigen Brennereien, die fast durchg\u00e4ngig Whisky produzierten. Nur der 2. Weltkrieg machte der Destillerie einen kurzen Strich durch die Rechnung&#8230; Sie musste von 1942 bis 1945 geschlossen werden, da die Versorgung der Destillateure mit Gerste, w\u00e4hrend des Krieges, eingeschr\u00e4nkt war.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: 10yo Parcel No. 7 Reserve Casks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dieser spezielle Caol Ila wurde aus ausgew\u00e4hlten F\u00e4ssern verheiratet, die vom Master Blender von Elixir Distillers Oliver Chilton handverlesen wurde. Die F\u00e4sser wurden alle 2011 bef\u00fcllt und 2021 abgef\u00fcllt. F\u00fcr Parcel No. 7 schn\u00fcrte Chilton u.a. ein Paket aus vier F\u00e4ssern der Islay-Brennerei Caol Ila, die f\u00fcr 10 Jahre lang bei einem Verdunstungsgrad von 13,3% (Angel&rsquo;s Share) reiften. Abgef\u00fcllt wurde der rauchige Islay Malt mit einer wunderbaren erh\u00f6hten Trinkst\u00e4rke von 48% Vol. Der Caol Ila 2011\/2021 ist g\u00e4nzlich naturbelassen und weder gef\u00e4rbt, noch k\u00fchlgefiltert.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sidenote zum Abf\u00fcller: Elixir Distillers\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Single Malts of Scotland aus dem Hause Elixir Distillers steht f\u00fcr konstant herausragende Abf\u00fcllungen aus allen schottischen Whiskyregionen. Der Range an Einzelfassabf\u00fcllungen steht die Reserve-Casks-Reihe zur Seite.
