Die Urspr\u00fcnge der Highland Park Destillerie sind, wie so oft, \u00ab\u00a0Wolken aus Halbwahrheit und Whisky-Mythen\u00a0\u00bb. Es ist bis heute nicht ganz klar ob Highland Park vom ber\u00fchmten Priester und Schmuggler Magnus Eunson oder vom Farmer David Robertson gegr\u00fcndet wurde. Fakt ist, dass das reich verzierte, schmiedeeiserne Tor der Brennerei auf eine Geschichte von 1798 hinweist. Fakt ist auch, dass sie 1826 eine erste offizielle Lizenz zum Destillieren von Whisky bekamen. Highland Distillers \u00fcbernahmen 1937 die volle Kontrolle am Unternehmen, sodass Highland Park heute Teil der Edrington Group ist. Der Name der Brennerei bezieht sich nicht auf die schottischen Highlands, sondern auf die Tatsache, dass die Brennerei auf einem Gebiet namens \u00ab\u00a0High Park\u00a0\u00bb gegr\u00fcndet wurde, das sich von einem niedrigeren Gebiet in der N\u00e4he unterscheidet. Aktuelles j\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: ca. 2,5 Mio. Liter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt: <\/strong>Highland Park Distillery ist die zweitn\u00f6rdlichste Single Malt Scotch Whisky Destillerie in Schottland (Kimbland Destillerie auf Sanday liegt 22 Meilen weiter n\u00f6rdlich).<strong><br \/>\nFun fact No.2: <\/strong>Sollte der oben beschriebene Mythos stimmen, dass Magnus Eunson Highland Park gegr\u00fcndet hat, dann ist dieser Eunson tags\u00fcber ein Metzger und Kirchenbeamte gewesen, der sich Nachts zu einem illegalen Destillateur &amp; Whiskyschmuggler \u00ab\u00a0verwandelt\u00a0\u00bb hat. 1798 wurde er beim illegalen Destillieren von Whisky auf dem heutigen Gel\u00e4nde erwischt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: Valkyrie (2017)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Highland Park Valkyrie ist Teil einer limitierten Serie namens Viking Legend (erste Ausgabe dieser Serie), die die Highland Park Distillery kreiert hat, um das Andenken und die Geschichte der Wikinger zu ehren, zu denen die Insel Orkney vor Jahrhunderten geh\u00f6rte.<br \/>\nSeit einigen Jahren hat die Brennerei ihr Image teilweise ver\u00e4ndert und wird immer mehr mit den Mythen und Legenden des Wikinger-Pantheons verbunden, um das Andenken an die Menschen, die die Meere besegelten und im kalten Norden ein Imperium errichteten, besser zu ehren. Der typisch ungest\u00fcme, torfige und maritime Charakter dieses Destillats passt gut zu den Namen tapferer Krieger und nordischer G\u00f6tter und schafft eine g\u00fcltige Parallelit\u00e4t.<br \/>\nDie limitierte Serie Viking Legend besteht aus drei Releases, darunter dieser Valkyrie mit einzigartigem Charakter: Tats\u00e4chlich hat das Basisdestillat im Vergleich zu den anderen Highland Park-Releases die doppelte Torfgr\u00f6\u00dfe, kombiniert mit einer verl\u00e4ngerten Reifung in Ex-Sherry-F\u00e4ssern aus europ\u00e4ischer und amerikanischer Eiche mit der klassischen Zugabe von Ex-Bourbon-F\u00e4ssern, wie es in der Tradition der Brennerei Tradition ist. Ein nie zahmer Charakter, der vor allem Gaumen trifft, die auf der Suche nach starken Empfindungen sind. Der Wikingercharakter ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil.
