Sie liegt im Nordwesten der Insel, in der N\u00e4he von Machir Bay. Kilchoman wurde von Anthony Wills gegr\u00fcndet und ist nach wie vor eine unabh\u00e4ngige, familiengef\u00fchrte Destillerie. Die Brennerei begann die Produktion im Dez. 2005 und war die erste, die seit 1908 auf Islay gebaut wurde. Die Destillerie verwendet Gerste, die vor Ort auf der Rockside Farm angebaut und in der Brennerei gem\u00e4lzt wird, sowie Malz aus den M\u00e4lzereien von Port Ellen. Kilchoman ist eine von nur sechs schottischen Destillerien, die immer noch mit traditionellen Bodenm\u00e4lzereien arbeiten. J\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: ca. 0,5 Mio. Liter<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt:\u00a0<\/strong>Die Lage von Kilchoman an der Westk\u00fcste von Islay hat einige historische Erw\u00e4hnungen. In dieser Gemeinde lie\u00df sich u.a. die Familie MacBeatha\/Beaton nieder, als sie 1300 aus dem heutigen County Antrim (Nordirland) kam. Sie waren \u00c4rzte (ein Beaton war jahrhundertelang der Leibarzt der K\u00f6nige von Schottland), die medizinische Texte \u00fcber die Destillation aus dem Lateinischen ins G\u00e4lische \u00fcbersetzten. Jetzt wieder Mythos&#8230; Es gibt daher eine Theorie, dass Islay bzw. Kilchoman Parish der erste Ort war, an dem die Destillation in Schottland stattfand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: Machir Bay<br \/>\n<\/strong>Benannt nach fast zwei Kilometern sch\u00f6nstem Sandstrand &#8211; der Machir Bay. Mit einer Kombination aus rauer, turbulenter See und atemberaubend sch\u00f6nen Sonnenunterg\u00e4ngen verk\u00f6rpert der Machir Bay die gleichnamige Bucht, nach der sie benannt ist. \u00ab\u00a0Die dramatische K\u00fcstenlandschaft von Machir Bay spiegelt sich in der rauen Komplexit\u00e4t dieses preisgekr\u00f6nten Single Malt, dem Flaggschiff der Kilchoman-Reihe, wider.\u00a0\u00bb sagt ANTHONY WILLS, GR\u00dcNDER VON KILCHOMAN. Ein charakteristischer, getorfter Single Malt, der sowohl in Bourbon- als auch in Sherryf\u00e4ssern gereift ist.
