Destille: Bunnahabhain
\n<\/strong>Die Bunnahabhain Destillerie (schottisch-g\u00e4lisch: Taigh-staile Bun na h-Abhainne) wurde 1881 in der N\u00e4he von Port Askaig auf Islay gegr\u00fcndet. Im Jahr 1887, als Bunnahabhain mit Glenrothes fusionierte, wurde ebenfalls Highland Distillers [heute Edrington] gegr\u00fcndet. W\u00e4hrend andere Islay-Destillerien ihre Marken als Single Malts und zum Blenden verkauften, war Bunnas Schicksal immer bei letzteren (u.a. bei Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark und Black Bottle). Das schnelle Wachstum von Scotch in den fr\u00fchen 1960er Jahren f\u00fchrte dazu, dass die Brennblasen 1963 verdoppelt wurden, im selben Jahr, in dem die Bodenm\u00e4lzerei herauskam. Doch das Gl\u00fcck war nicht von Dauer und wie viele Destillerien wurde Bunna 1982 eingemottet. Wiederbelebt wurde es dann Ende der 1980er Jahre als Single Malt mit dem Slogan “der unaussprechliche Malt”. Trotz eines Aufschwungs auf dem Whiskymarkt verkaufte Edrington es 2003 f\u00fcr 10 Millionen Pfund an Burn Stewart. Im Jahr 2013 ging Bunna dann an den langj\u00e4hrigen s\u00fcdafrikanischen Vertriebspartner Distell.<\/p>\n

Fun Fakt:\u00a0 <\/strong>Die abgelegene Nordostk\u00fcste von Islay mag ein seltsamer Ort sein, um eine bedeutende viktorianische Destillerie zu finden, aber sie wurde 1881 von William Robertson (von Robertson & Baxter) in Zusammenarbeit mit Greenlees Bros. als perfekter Ort f\u00fcr seine Inselvision ausgew\u00e4hlt. Der Bau bedeutete nicht nur den Bau der Destillerie, sondern auch der H\u00e4user, den Bau einer Stra\u00dfe und das Hinzuf\u00fcgen eines Piers, damit F\u00e4sser und Gerste hereinkommen und Whisky ausgehen konnten. Es kostete Robertson insgesamt 30.000 Pfund (entspricht den heutigen 2,6 Millionen Pfund).<\/p>\n

Whisky\/Whiskey: 15yo Old Particular (Douglas Laing)
\n<\/strong>Douglas Laing\u2019s Old Particular Reihe besteht aus individuell ausgew\u00e4hlten Malt und Grain Whiskys aus ganz Schottland, die nach h\u00f6chster Qualit\u00e4tsstufe hergestellt werden. Diese Whiskys werden weder k\u00e4ltefiltriert noch mit Farbstoffen versehen und sind mit ihren Single Cask Abf\u00fcllungen einzigartig.
\nDer Old Particular Bunnhabhain 15yo reifte in einem Refilled Barrel mit der Cask No. DL 14092. Limitiert auf 225 Flaschen weltweit (!!) und exklusiv abgef\u00fcllt f\u00fcr deinwhisky.de Die “Farbe” zeichnet sich durch “dunklen Bernstein” aus. In der Nase vernimmt man “Sherrynoten, Gew\u00fcrze und Kaffee”. Der Geschmack dagegen ist “vollmundig, frisch, schokoladig, nach Toffee & Gew\u00fcrzen”, gefolgt vom Abgang, der “lang anhaltend und reich an Fr\u00fcchten” ist.<\/p>\n

Side Note zum Abf\u00fcller: Douglas Laing<\/strong>
\nBis 2013 arbeiteten die Br\u00fcder Fred-Douglas und Stewart Laing zusammen und leiteten das familieneigene Abf\u00fcllunternehmen bevor sie beschlossen, das Verm\u00f6gen des Unternehmens aufzuteilen und getrennte Wege zu gehen. Douglas Laings Tochter Cara schloss sich ihrem Vater an und brachte ihre umfangreiche Erfahrung mit schottischem Whisky mit, nachdem sie als Global Brand Manager f\u00fcr Jura Single Malt t\u00e4tig war (mit einem kurzem Intermezzo als Marketingmanagerin f\u00fcr Bowmore und Glen Garioch).
\nCara ist in der dritten Generation der Familie Laing t\u00e4tig, welches 1948 von ihrem Gro\u00dfvater Fred Douglas Laing gegr\u00fcndet wurde. Er mischte seinen eigenen Whisky etablierte ein Abf\u00fcllprogramm mit vielen schottischen Destillerien. Douglas Laing besitzt bereits eine Destillerie \u2013 Strathearn in Perthshire, die 2019 erworben wurde und bald durch eine weitere Destillerie (eine neue Anlage im Wert von 10,7 Millionen Pfund in Glasgow) erg\u00e4nzt wird.<\/p>\n
