Destille: Bruichladdich
\n<\/strong>Die Brennerei Bruichladdich ist eine Destillerie auf den Rhinns der Isle of Islay in Schottland. Der Name Bruichladdich ist eine Anglisierung von “Bruthach a’ Chladaich” (schottisch-g\u00e4lisch f\u00fcr “Brae of the Shore”). Bruichladdich wurde 1881 von den Br\u00fcdern Harvey \u2013 William (32), John (31) und Robert (23) \u2013 am Ufer des Loch Indaal, dem westlichsten Teil der Insel, erbaut. Die Harveys waren eine dynastische Whiskyfamilie, die seit 1770 zwei Glasgower Brennereien besa\u00dfen. Mit dem Erbe kombinierten die drei Br\u00fcder ihre Talente, um eine dritte Destillerie \u2013 Bruichladdich \u2013 zu bauen… von John entworfen, von Robert konstruiert und von William und anderen Familienmitgliedern finanziert. Bruichladdich wurde haupts\u00e4chlich von William nach einem Streit mit seinen Br\u00fcdern gef\u00fchrt, bevor die Brennerei \u00fcberhaupt fertiggestellt war. Nach seinem Tod wechselte Bruichladdich von 1936 bis 1969 zur Associated Scottish Distilleries Ltd. Nach mehreren Besitzerwechsel kaufte schlie\u00dflich Whyte and Mackay die Destillerie und erkl\u00e4rte sie 1994 als “\u00fcbersch\u00fcssig”. Nach der Wiederaufnahme am 19.12.2000 wurde sie von Murray McDavid gekauft. Jim McEwan, der seit seinem 15. Lebensjahr in der Bowmore Distillery gearbeitet hatte, wurde als Master Distiller und Produktionsleiter eingestellt. Zwischen Januar und Mai 2001 wurde die gesamte Brennerei demontiert und wieder zusammengebaut. Heute geh\u00f6rt Bruichladdich seit 2012 zum R\u00e9my Cointreau Konzern. Aktuell hat Bruichladdich ein Produktionsvolumen von ca. 1,5 Mio. Litern.<\/p>\n

Fun Fakt:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Ein Gro\u00dfteil der verwendeten Ger\u00e4te bei Bruichladdich ist die originale viktorianische Ausr\u00fcstung von damals. Keine Computer in der Produktion – au\u00dfer in den B\u00fcros, in denen eine Reihe von 8 Webcams betrieben werden. Diese Webcams standen im Mittelpunkt einer Geheimdienstoperation der (amerikanischen) “Defense Threat Reduction Agency”, als die antiken Destillationsanlagen der Brennerei mit denen verwechselt wurden, die angeblich f\u00fcr die chemischen Waffen des Iraks verwendet wurden. Dieser Irrglaube ging auf eine E-Mail zur\u00fcck, die ein amerikanischer Agent an die Destillerie schickte, als eine der Webcams kaputt war. Eine limitierte Auflage von Gedenkflaschen wurde zu Ehren der Geschichte herausgegeben.<\/p>\n

Whisky\/Whiskey:<\/strong> WMD II Yellow Submarine 1991
\n<\/strong>Bruichladdich 14 Jahre WMD II Yellow Submarine (3. WMD Ausgabe) ist ein Islay Single Malt Whisky in limitierter Auflage, der in der Bruichladdich Distillery hergestellt wird. Die Geschichte hinter dieser Flasche ist, dass eines Tages ein Fischer auf ein kleines gelbes U-Boot stie\u00df. Er meldete den “Vorfall” dem Milit\u00e4r. Das Verteidigungsministerium bestritt zun\u00e4chst umgehend jede Verbindung damit. Sp\u00e4ter gab es aber offiziell zu Protokoll, dass die HMS Penzance (gelbes U-Boot) verschwunden ist. Bruichladdich erinnert mit diesem tollen Whisky an diese Geschichte und hat diesen Single Malt 14 Jahre lang in Eichenf\u00e4ssern gereift und in Rioja-Weinf\u00e4ssern veredelt. 1991 limitiert in 12.000 Flaschen mit 46,0% Alk.vol abgef\u00fcllt. Ein Must-Have f\u00fcr Bruichladdich-Liebhaber & Sammler.
\n\u00dcbrigens… WMD steht f\u00fcr “Whisky of Mass Distinction”! Erste Ausgabe erfolgte 1984, gefolgt von WMD II Yellow Submarine 2.Ausgabe 2004 und 3.Ausgabe 2005. Letzte WMD Ausgabe erschien 2018 mit dem 25-J\u00e4hrigen Yellow Submarine WMD III.<\/p>\n
