Die Destillerie blieb w\u00e4hrend der Weltwirtschaftskrise ge\u00f6ffnet und wurde erst w\u00e4hrend des Zweiten Weltkriegs geschlossen. Die Glenlivet Destillerie hat sich in der Nachkriegszeit zu einer der gr\u00f6\u00dften Single Malt Destillerien entwickelt. Die Marke Glenlivet ist der meistverkaufte Single Malt Whisky in den Vereinigten Staaten und die zweitmeistverkaufte Single Malt Marke weltweit &#8211; nach Glenfiddich. Heute ist die Destillerie im Besitz der Tochtergesellschaft Chivas Brothers des franz\u00f6sischen Alkoholherstellers Pernod Ricard. J\u00e4hrliche Produktionskapazit\u00e4t: ca. 10,5 Mio. Liter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun fact:<\/strong> Die Whiskywelt ist sich nicht ganz einig&#8230; Obwohl The Glenlivet weithin als die \u00e4lteste noch in Betrieb befindliche Destillerie Schottlands gilt, ist sie es (wahrscheinlich) doch nicht. Diese Ehre geb\u00fchrt Strathisla, w\u00e4hrend Glen Garioch noch \u00e4lter sein k\u00f6nnte. Glenlivet war jedoch eines der ersten Destillerien, welches eine der neuen Lizenzen erwarb, die nach der Verabschiedung des Excise Act von 1823 ausgestellt wurden (gilt als Ausgangspunkt der modernen schottischen Whiskyindustrie).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: 12yo Illicit Still (The Original Stories)<\/strong><br \/>\nDieser Single Malt von Glenlivet ist ein 12 Jahre alter Ausdruck namens Illicit Still, zu Ehren des Gr\u00fcnders George Smith, der seinen Whisky illegal in handgefertigten Kupferbrennblasen destillierte. &#8220;Illicit Still&#8221; ist die erste Ver\u00f6ffentlichung in der von der Destillerie so genannten &#8220;Original Stories&#8221;-Serie und soll die Whiskyherstellungsstile der 1800er Jahre heraufbeschw\u00f6ren. Er ist nicht k\u00fchlgefiltert und ist mit einem h\u00f6heren Alkoholgehalt von 48 Vol.-%, in einer etwas altmodischen Karaffe abgef\u00fcllt. In der Nase &#8220;kr\u00e4ftig malzig, kombinert mit dem leicht blumigen, grasbewachsenen Hausstil von Glenlivet. Ein Hauch von Schornsteinru\u00df mildert eine sanfte S\u00fc\u00dfe, die zumindest in der Nase eher eine eher pflanzliche als blumige Note findet&#8221;.
