Nach seinem Pharmaziestudium zog er 1838 als junger Apotheker auf die Karibikinsel Saint Thomas, die damals zu D\u00e4nisch-Westindien geh\u00f6rte. Dort er\u00f6ffnete er die erste Apotheke der Insel, die \u201eApothecary Hall\u201c, und wurde schnell zu einer wichtigen Pers\u00f6nlichkeit im lokalen Gesundheitswesen.<br \/>\nVon der Apotheke zum Rum&#8230;<br \/>\nDa Saint Thomas ein wichtiger Umschlagplatz f\u00fcr Zuckerrohr und Rum war, lag es nahe, dass Riise sich auch der Rumherstellung widmete. Er nutzte sein Wissen \u00fcber Destillation und Kr\u00e4uterkunde, um besonders aromatische und hochwertige Rums zu kreieren. Nach dem Tod von Albert Heinrich Riise im Jahr 1882 wurde die Produktion von seinen Nachfahren und Gesch\u00e4ftspartnern weitergef\u00fchrt.<br \/>\nHeutzutage steht A.H.
