Die Destillerie ist aufgrund ihrer N\u00e4he zu Glasgow auch als &#8220;Glasgow&#8217;s Malt Whisky&#8221; und aufgrund ihrer s\u00fc\u00dfen und delikaten Art als &#8220;The Breakfast Whisky&#8221; bekannt. Auchentoshan liegt am Fu\u00dfe der Kilpatrick Hills am Stadtrand von Clydebank in West Dunbartonshire in der N\u00e4he der Erskine Bridge.<br \/>\nDie Auchentoshan Destillerie wurde 1823 erbaut. Die urspr\u00fcngliche Brennerei wurde von einem Getreideh\u00e4ndler namens John Bulloch erbaut und mit seinem Sohn gef\u00fchrt. Nach dem Bankrott im Jahr 1834 wurde die Brennerei an Alexander Filshie, einen \u00f6rtlichen Bauern, verkauft und blieb bis 1877 unter der Kontrolle seiner Familie, nachdem sie nach einer schlechten Ernte wieder an mehrere Besitzer verkauft wurde. Im Jahr 1877 wurde die Brennerei von den Glasgower Destillateuren John &amp; George MacLachlan erworben. Die Brennerei wurde 1969 von Eadie Cairns gekauft, die sie komplett umbaute. Cairns verkaufte Auchentoshan 1984 an den Whisky-Blender Stanley P. Morrison (sp\u00e4ter Morrison Bowmore Distillers).<br \/>\nSuntory investierte 1989 in Morrison Bowmore und erwarb 1994 100 % der Beteiligungen, einschlie\u00dflich der Auchentoshan-Brennerei.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun fact 1:<\/strong> Das Beste draus gemacht&#8230; Das Areal um die Brennerei wurde im Zweiten Weltkrieg besch\u00e4digt und ein Bombenkrater hinter der Brennerei dient heute als Teich f\u00fcr K\u00fchlwasser.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun fact no.2:<\/strong> Es ist nach wie vor die einzige Destillerie in Schottland, die eine 100%ige Dreifachdestillation durchf\u00fchrt und eine der wenigen, in der die gesamte Produktion als Single Malt abgef\u00fcllt wird.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: Dark Oak<\/strong><br \/>\nDer Auchentoshan Dark Oak verdankt seinen Beinamen der guten F\u00e4rbung des Single Malts. Verantwortlich daf\u00fcr ist die Lagerung in Ex-Bourbonf\u00e4ssern mit einer anschlie\u00dfenden Reifung in Oloroso- und PX-Sherryf\u00e4ssern, die zuvor intensiv ausgebrannt wurden. Dieser Prozess verleiht dem Whisky seine tiefdunkle Farbe und seinen intensiven Geschmack. Bei der Lowland Brennerei Auchentoshan wird noch dreifach destilliert und es entstand ein fruchtig-s\u00fc\u00dfer Malt mit Aromen von Orangen und reifen Bananen. Im Geschmack zeigen sich Vanillet\u00f6ne und reife rote Fr\u00fcchte.
