Destille: Black Velvet Distillery
\n<\/strong>Black Velvet Whisky ist eine kanadische Whiskymarke, die sich im Besitz von Heaven Hill befindet und in der Black Velvet Distillery in Lethbridge, Alberta, hergestellt wird. Es hat einen weichen Geschmack und ist bekannt f\u00fcr seine schwarze Etikettierung.
\nBlack Velvet wurde urspr\u00fcnglich bei Schenley Industries in Valleyfield, Quebec, Kanada, hergestellt. Schenley’s Black Velvet DeLuxe war im Zweiten Weltkrieg der einzige Schnaps, der den U-Boot-Offizieren in Midway zur Verf\u00fcgung stand, wo er wenig gesch\u00e4tzt wurde und als “Schenley’s Black Death” bekannt war.
\nDer urspr\u00fcngliche Besitzer Heublein wurde 1987 an Grand Metropolitan verkauft. Grand Metropolitan und Guinness fusionierten 1997 zu Diageo. Im Jahr 1999 wurde die Brennerei von Diageo an Canandaigua Brands verkauft. Sie besa\u00dfen die Destillerie und die Marke 20 Jahre lang, bevor sie sie zusammen mit einem Bestand an reifendem Whisky f\u00fcr 266 Millionen US-Dollar an Heaven Hill verkauften.
\nUrspr\u00fcnglich unter dem Namen “Black Label” genannt, wurde der Name in den sp\u00e4ten 1940er Jahren auf Anregung des Master Distillers Jack Napier in “Black Velvet” ge\u00e4ndert, weil er der Meinung war, dass er einen samtigen Geschmack und eine Geschmeidigkeit hat.<\/p>\n

Fun fact:<\/strong> Ladies first… Die erste Black Velvet Lady, Patricia Victoria Miller, wurde 1969 der Welt als Werbemittel f\u00fcr Black Velvet vorgestellt. Seitdem sind so ber\u00fchmte Namen wie Christie Brinkley, Cybill Shepherd, Kim Alexis, Cheryl Tiegs, Micah Wylde und Kelly Emberg alle Black Velvet Ladies. Dar\u00fcber hinaus sind die Schauspieler Telly Savalas, Larry Hagman, George Burns und die Country-S\u00e4ngerin Tanya Tucker in den Werbespots zu sehen. Die aktuelle Black Velvet Lady ist Tami Donaldson, geboren und aufgewachsen in Hollywood, Florida.<\/p>\n
