Die Glenwyvis-Destillerie wurde 2015 von John Mckenzie, einem Landwirt, Verfechter gr\u00fcner Energie und kommerziellem Hubschrauberpiloten, gegr\u00fcndet. Heute befindet sie sich im Besitz einer Gruppe von Crowdfundern und wird vollst\u00e4ndig mit erneuerbaren Energien wie Wasser-, Wind-, Solar- und Hackschnitzel-Biomasse-Heizsystemen betrieben. Sein Name stammt von der Idee, alte Traditionen der Vergangenheit fortzuf\u00fchren und bezieht sich auf zwei fr\u00fchere Destillerien der Gegend, die Ben Wyvis in Dingwall und die Glenskiach in Evanton. Die Brennerei selbst wurde 2017 auf einem H\u00fcgel nur wenige Kilometer von der Stadt Dingwall entfernt gebaut und repr\u00e4sentiert eine R\u00fcckkehr des Whiskys nach Dingwall, wo es seit 1926 keine Brennerei mehr gibt.<br \/>\nIm Jahr 2018 begann die Glenwyvis Destillerie unter der Leitung von Master Distiller Duncan Tait sowohl mit der Whisky- als auch mit der Gin-Produktion. Nach einem Jahr ruhten mehr als f\u00fcnfhundert F\u00e4sser vor Ort.
