\n\u00dcber 140 Jahre lang blieb Charles Mackinlay & Company ein Familienunternehmen, in dem f\u00fcnf Generationen im Bereich des Mischens und Destillierens t\u00e4tig waren. 1847 wurde The Original Mackinlay registriert und wurde zur Grundmarke des Unternehmens. Der Familienbesitz von Charles Mackinlay & Co endete schlie\u00dflich 1961, als das Unternehmen an die Scottish Newcastle Breweries Ltd verkauft wurde und anschlie\u00dfend Teil von Waverley Vintners Ltd. wurde. Das Unternehmen wurde sp\u00e4ter von Invergordon Distillers \u00fcbernommen und ist heute Teil von Whyte & Mackay.<\/p>\n

Fun Fakt:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Die Marke Mackinlay ist vor allem daf\u00fcr bekannt, dass sie der Whisky der Wahl von Sir Ernest Shackleton war, um seine Expedition zum S\u00fcdpol im Jahr 1907 zu begleiten. Die 25 Kisten Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt wurden auf Bestellung mit einem bestimmten Alkoholgehalt von 47,3 Vol.-% hergestellt, der stark genug ist, um Minustemperaturen standzuhalten.
\nIm Jahr 2007 wurden mehrere Flaschen von Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt im antarktischen Basislager von Shackleton gefunden. Die Analyse ergab, dass der Whisky in Sherryf\u00e4ssern aus amerikanischer Eiche gereift war und im M\u00e4lzungsprozess unter Verwendung von Orkney-Torf hergestellt worden war.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>\u00dcber 140 Jahre lang blieb Charles Mackinlay & Company ein Familienunternehmen, in dem f\u00fcnf Generationen im Bereich des Mischens und Destillierens t\u00e4tig waren. Im Jahr 1907 begann Sir Ernest Shackleton seine ber\u00fchmte Expedition in die Antarktis. Er brachte 25 Kisten Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky mit auf die Reise. Im Jahr 2010 wurden mehrere dieser hundert Jahre alten Flaschen im Eis unter der H\u00fctte des Entdeckers vergraben gefunden und zur Analyse durch Richard Paterson, den Master Blender von Whyte & Mackay, geschickt.
\nMackinlay’s Shackleton’s Journey Rare Old Highland Malt (die zweite Nachbildung.. 1st Edition erschien 2013 anl\u00e4sslich der Epic Expedition, der ersten Shackletons Transantarktis-Expedition 1914-17) ist eine Nachbildung dieses Whiskys und seiner urspr\u00fcnglichen Pr\u00e4sentation, eingewickelt in Stroh. Der Blend umfasst ein seltenes Fass Glen Mhor aus dem Jahr 1980 sowie einige stark getorfte Dalmore und Malts aus den Destillerien Glenfarclas, Mannochmore, Tamnavulin, Ben Nevis, Aultmore, Fettercairn, Pulteney und Jura.<\/p>\n
