Chivas Brothers, die schon die gegen\u00fcberliegende Strathisla-Brennerei betrieben, begannen im Jahre 1957 mit der Errichtung einer neuen Brennerei in Keith. Sie war die erste Brennereineugr\u00fcndung in Schottland nach dem Boom im Viktorianischen Zeitalter. Der Glen Keith getaufte Betrieb wurde 1960 fertiggestellt. Glen Keith diente dem Spirituosenkonzern neben der kommerziellen Whiskyproduktion auch als Versuchseinrichtung zur Entwicklung innovativer Techniken. Es wurden zun\u00e4chst drei Brennblasen eingesetzt, eine Grobbrand- und zwei Feinbrandblasen, die einen dreifach gebrannten Malt Whisky produzierten; es konnte jedoch auch einfach auf zweifache Destillation umgestellt werden. Das in der Whiskyregion Lowlands \u00fcbliche dreifache Brennen ist hingegen in der Region Speyside nicht g\u00e4ngig und spiegelt den experimentellen Charakter der Brennerei wider. Sp\u00e4ter wurde die Anzahl der Brennblasen auf sechs erh\u00f6ht. Hierbei wurden Mitte der 1970er Jahre die ersten gasbeheizten Pot Stills \u00fcberhaupt installiert. Im Jahre 1999 wurde Glen Keith eingemottet und ging 2001 in den Besitz von Pernod Ricard \u00fcber. Im Juni 2013 wurde die Brennerei wieder er\u00f6ffnet.<br \/>\nJ\u00e4hrliche Produktionsmenge: ca. 6 Millionen Liter Alkohol.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun fact:<\/strong> Die Glen-Keith-Brennerei produzierte auch ihr eigenes Malz und ihre eigene Hefe. Hierbei wurde auch die Strathisla-Brennerei \u00fcber eine Druckleitung mit Malz versorgt. Eine Zeit lang wurde ein getorfter Malt Whisky produziert, den der unabh\u00e4ngige Abf\u00fcller Signatory unter der Handelsbezeichnung Glenisla vertrieb. Erw\u00e4hnenswert hierbei ist, dass das Torfraucharoma nicht wie \u00fcblich durch getorftes Malz, sondern durch mit Torfrauch behandeltes Wasser erzeugt wurde.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: Distillery Edition<br \/>\n<\/strong>Die Glen Keith Distillery Edition ist die erste Abf\u00fcllung seit Wiederer\u00f6ffnung der Brennerei. Dieser bernsteinfarbene Whisky aus Schottland, der nach dem Destillationsprozess in traditionellen Eichenf\u00e4ssern gereift ist, f\u00fchrt zu einer sehr weichen Ausgabe mit einem s\u00fc\u00dfen Aroma voller Fr\u00fcchte aus dem Obstgarten, gekr\u00f6nt von Toffee und Bananennoten, die lange in der Nase verweilen.<br \/>\nSein Geschmack beginnt mit einer kr\u00e4ftigen Eichennote mit N\u00fcssen, cremiger Vanille und Aprikosenjoghurt. Gefolgt von getrockneter Mango und Nektarinen mit Schokoladenpudding, mit einem anhaltenden w\u00fcrzigen Hintergrund. Abgerundet durch einen dezenten Nachgeschmack voller blumiger Noten und neuer Eiche und etwas Honig.
