Im Jahr 2003 wandelten sie drei ihrer Geb\u00e4ude in eine Destillerie um und erhielten zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter die Lizenz zum Brennen, was sie zum ersten Mitglied der jetzt aufkeimenden Kleindestillationsbewegung in Schottland machte.<br \/>\nHeute ist sie eine der wenigen in den Lowlands angesiedelten Brennereien. Au\u00dfer Daftmill gibt es zum Gr\u00fcndungszeitpunkt nur 3 weitere produzierende Brennereien in den Lowlands: Auchentoshan, Bladnoch und Glenkinchie. Der erste Whisky wurde am 18. Dezember 2005 gebrannt. Die Geb\u00e4ude der Farm-Brennerei sind \u00fcber 200 Jahre alt und beherbergten urspr\u00fcnglich unter anderem eine Hafer-M\u00fchle, die jedoch schon lange au\u00dfer Betrieb ist \u2013 die M\u00fchlsteine wurden bereits in den 1940er-Jahren entfernt und die M\u00fchle war auch vorher schon l\u00e4nger nicht mehr aktiv. J\u00e4hrliche Produktionsmenge: ca. 20.000 Liter<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt:\u00a0<\/strong>Woher kommt eigentlich der Name &#8220;Daftmill&#8221;? Na dann passt mal auf&#8230; wir verraten es euch! Daftmill bedeutet \u00fcbersetzt &#8220;verr\u00fcckte M\u00fchle&#8221;. Der an der Farm vorbeiflie\u00dfende Bach erweckt den Eindruck, als ob er den Berg hinaufflie\u00dfen w\u00fcrde und erhielt daher von den Einheimischen den Namen \u201eDaft Burn\u201c (verr\u00fcckter Bach). Als auf dem Gel\u00e4nde der Farm die M\u00fchle gebaut wurde wurde aus &#8220;Bach&#8221; dann &#8220;M\u00fchle&#8221;, also&#8230; \u201eDaft Mill\u201c.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: 2009 Summer Batch Release (Europe)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Dieser Daftmill &#8220;2009 Summer Batch (Europe)&#8221; ist die erste Abf\u00fcllung mit einer Reifung aus ex Oloroso-Butt und ex Bourbon F\u00e4ssern. Er wurde in ersten beiden Augustwochen 2009 destilliert und 2020 abgef\u00fcllt. Das Besondere an dem Whisky von dieser kultigen Kleinstbrennerei? Als Gerstensorte wurde die Sorte &#8220;Optic&#8221; verwendet und auf den Feldern des S\u00fcdens angebaut. Geerntet in der letzten Augustwoche 2006 und anschlie\u00dfend auf dem Bauernhof gelagert, um im Sommer 2007 in &#8220;Alloa&#8221; gem\u00e4lzt zu werden.
