Destille: Craigellachie
\n<\/span><\/strong>Die Craigellachie Distillery ist eine Single Malt Scotch Whisky Destillerie im Dorf Craigellachie, im Zentrum der Speyside (Schottland). Der Name Craigellachie bedeutet “felsiger H\u00fcgel” und bezieht sich auf die Klippe, die den Fluss “Spey” \u00fcberblickt. Craigellachie wurde 1891 unter dem Namen “Craigellachie Distillery Co. Limited” von einer Gruppe aus Mixern und H\u00e4ndlern, unter der Leitung von Alexander Edward gegr\u00fcndet. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter wurde sie als Aktiengesellschaft umfirmiert und 1896 als Craigellachie-Glenlivet Distillery Ltd. eingetragen. Seit 1997 befindet sich Craigellachie im Besitz von Bacardi. J\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: ca. 4 Mio. Liter<\/span><\/p>\n

Fun Fakt:<\/strong> Craigellachie geh\u00f6rte fr\u00fcher mal United Distillers (UD), die nun unter dem Diageo Konzern zusammengefasst sind. Sie war also eine Schwestermarke von Caol Ila, Cardhu, Clynelish, Cragganmore, Lagavulin, usw. Einer der Gr\u00fcnder 1891 war auch Peter Mackie, dessen Name unzentrennlich mit White Horse Distillers und dem weltber\u00fchmten Blend \u201eWhite Horse\u201c verbunden war.<\/p>\n

Whisky\/Whiskey: 2008 Hepburn`s Choice
\n<\/strong>Die Whiskys aus der “Hepburn`s Choice” Serie werden immer aus einem einzigen Fass der ausgew\u00e4hlten Destillerie entnommen. Generell wird das Sortiment mit 46 Vol.-% abgef\u00fcllt, nat\u00fcrlich ohne K\u00e4ltefilter oder Farbstoffe. Jedes Fass wird sorgf\u00e4ltig ausgew\u00e4hlt, um die jeweilige Destillerie oder Region zu pr\u00e4sentieren.
\nDer Name Hepburn ist eine Hommage an den Gro\u00dfvater m\u00fctterlicherseits eines der Direktoren der Langside Distillers. Der verstorbene William Hepburn, der in seiner Rolle im diplomatischen Dienst die Welt bereiste. Mit seinem feinen Urteilsverm\u00f6gen, das er bei vielen Botschaftsveranstaltungen erweitert hatte, war Herr Hepburn ein wahrer Kenner seiner Heimat Schottland. Vor diesem Hintergrund w\u00e4ren diese Abf\u00fcllungen “Hepburn’s Choice” gewesen. Der hier angebotene 7-j\u00e4hrige Craigellachie wurde in European Oak Quarter Cask “gefinisht” und ist limitiert auf nur 90 Flaschen!<\/p>\n

Sidenote zum Abf\u00fcller: Langside Distillers<\/strong>
\nUnter dem Namen Langside Distillers ist Hunter Laing ein unabh\u00e4ngiger Abf\u00fcller mit Sitz in Glasgow, Schottland. Der Betrieb wurde von Stewart H. Laing 2013 gegr\u00fcndet, nach dem dieser aus dem Familienbetrieb Douglas Laing ausstieg, den er bis dato mit seinem Bruder gemeinsam f\u00fchrte. Dabei nahm er F\u00e4sser und Serien wie die “Hepburn’s Choice”, “Old Malt Cask”- und “Old and Rare”-Reihe mit. Heute arbeitet Stewart H. Laing mit seinen zwei S\u00f6hnen zusammen an neuen Ver\u00f6ffentlichungen.<\/p>\n
