Das Gel\u00e4nde der Destillerie befindet sich zwar in st\u00e4dtischer Lage, liegt aber, was den Geschmack des hier erzeugten Whiskys deutlich beeinflusst, nur 230 Meter vom Meer entfernt. Der von der Brennerei erzeugte Single Malt Scotch Whisky hei\u00dft Old Pulteney, wobei das Wort Old (engl. f\u00fcr &#8216;alt&#8217;) darauf hinweisen soll, dass der Whisky besonders schnell reift (und nicht, dass er besonders alt ist). Der Name Pulteney ist auch der Name des Teils der Stadt Wick, in dem die Brennerei liegt und der nach dem damaligen Direktor der britischen Fischereigesellschaft, Sir William Johnstone Pulteney, benannt wurde. Er hatte 1810 Teile der Stadt als Ideal eines Fischereihafens entworfen. Die j\u00e4hrliche Produktionsmenge von Pulteney liegt aktuell bei 1,0 Millionen Litern.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt:\u00a0<\/strong>Schon gewusst? 4 Facts \u00fcber Pulteney&#8230;<br \/>\n1) NORDEN &#8211; Die Brennerei geh\u00f6rt mit ihren zwei Brennblasen zu den kleineren in Schottland und war bis zur Er\u00f6ffnung der Brennerei Wolfburn 2013 die n\u00f6rdlichste des schottischen Festlandes.<br \/>\n2) MANZANILLA &#8211; Wegen seines leicht salzigen und trockenen Geschmacks tr\u00e4gt Pulteney auch den Beinamen &#8220;Manzanilla des Nordens&#8221;.<br \/>\n3) WHISKY OF THE YEAR &#8211; Der 21 Jahre alte Old Pulteney wurde von Jim Murray in seiner j\u00e4hrlich erscheinenden Whisky Bible zum Whisky des Jahres 2012 gek\u00fcrt.<br \/>\n4) WHISKY zum Heizen &#8211; In letzter Zeit machte die Brennerei von sich reden, weil sie zusammen mit der Stadtverwaltung ein Projekt f\u00fcr die Nutzung der bei der Destillation entstehenden Abw\u00e4rme ins Leben rief. Die abgef\u00fchrte W\u00e4rme reicht f\u00fcr die Beheizung von etwa 1.500 Haushalten.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: Old Pulteney &#8211; Noss Head Lighthouse 2018<br \/>\n<\/strong>Der &#8220;Noss Head Lighthouse&#8221; wurde in Bourbon-F\u00e4ssern destilliert und stammt aus der exklusiven Lighthouse-Serie von Old Pulteney. Produziert f\u00fcr den Traveller Reatil Bereich (1L) ist dieser Whisky &#8220;ein spritziger gr\u00fcner Obstsalat aus Old Pulteney mit viel K\u00fcstendestillerie-Charakter&#8221;. Denn in der Nase kann man &#8220;viel gr\u00fcne Fr\u00fcchte (Kiwi, Limette und Sternfrucht), gesalzener griechischer Joghurt mit aromatischen Kr\u00e4utern (Zitronenthymian), Baiser, eingelegte Zitronen, Schokoladenlimetten und Vanille&#8221; wahrnehmen. Beim Geschmack kommen &#8220;Limette, Holunderbl\u00fcten, zuckerhaltiges M\u00fcrbegeb\u00e4ck, gezuckerte Mandeln, Zitronensorbet und salziges Vanillinholz&#8221; zum Vorschein.
