Zuvor hatte er sich rund zwanzig Jahre lang um Produktion, Einkauf und Rezepturen bei De Kuyper in Schiedam gek\u00fcmmert, bevor er das Gef\u00fchl hatte, dass es an der Zeit war, sein eigenes Unternehmen zu gr\u00fcnden. Er kaufte ein St\u00fcck Land in Baarle Nassau und baute dort seine Destillerie, motiviert von dem Ehrgeiz, hochwertige holl\u00e4ndische Lik\u00f6re herzustellen, die nur mit gebrauchten Kesseln, einem F\u00fcllfass und einigen Tanks ausgestattet sind. Zuidam Distillers hat seit seinen bescheidenen Anf\u00e4ngen im Jahr 1975 einen langen Weg zur\u00fcckgelegt. Derzeit wird eine breite Palette von Spirituosen hergestellt, darunter schicke Genever, Gin und der erste niederl\u00e4ndische Whiskey, Millstone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt 1: <\/strong>Nachhaltig nat\u00fcrlich&#8230; Ob es sich um die Herstellung von Gin, Genever oder Rum handelt, Zuidam ist eine der letzten unabh\u00e4ngigen Destillerien in den Niederlanden, die alle ihre Destillate und Extrakte noch auf traditionelle Weise herstellt und verarbeitet &#8211; nur mit reinen Rohstoffen. Keine k\u00fcnstlichen Duft-, Farb- oder Geschmacksstoffe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fact 2:<\/strong> Da die gem\u00e4lzte Gerste f\u00fcr diesen Whisky wie fr\u00fcher \u00fcblich mit Windm\u00fchlen gemahlen wird, wurde der Single Malt M\u00fchlstein (engl. Millstone) getauft.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: Millstone Heavily Peated 2019\/2023<br \/>\n<\/strong>Millstone Heavily Peated wurde im Jahr 2023 speziell f\u00fcr das Whisky Festival in Leiden abgef\u00fcllt. Jedes Jahr gibt es hier exklusive Festival Abf\u00fcllungen verschiedener Brennereien. Die junge Abf\u00fcllung reifte vier Jahre in Pedro Ximenez F\u00e4ssern und wurde mit 51,2% abgef\u00fcllt.
