Die Urspr\u00fcnge der Highland Park Destillerie sind, wie so oft, &#8220;Wolken aus Halbwahrheit und Whisky-Mythen&#8221;. Es ist bis heute nicht ganz klar ob Highland Park vom ber\u00fchmten Priester und Schmuggler Magnus Eunson oder vom Farmer David Robertson gegr\u00fcndet wurde. Fakt ist, dass das reich verzierte, schmiedeeiserne Tor der Brennerei auf eine Geschichte von 1798 hinweist. Fakt ist auch, dass sie 1826 eine erste offizielle Lizenz zum Destillieren von Whisky bekamen. Highland Distillers \u00fcbernahmen 1937 die volle Kontrolle am Unternehmen, sodass Highland Park heute Teil der Edrington Group ist. Der Name der Brennerei bezieht sich nicht auf die schottischen Highlands, sondern auf die Tatsache, dass die Brennerei auf einem Gebiet namens &#8220;High Park&#8221; gegr\u00fcndet wurde, das sich von einem niedrigeren Gebiet in der N\u00e4he unterscheidet. Aktuelles j\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: ca. 2,5 Mio. Liter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt: <\/strong>Highland Park Distillery ist die zweitn\u00f6rdlichste Single Malt Scotch Whisky Destillerie in Schottland (Kimbland Destillerie auf Sanday liegt 22 Meilen weiter n\u00f6rdlich).<strong><br \/>\nFun fact No.2: <\/strong>Sollte der oben beschriebene Mythos stimmen, dass Magnus Eunson Highland Park gegr\u00fcndet hat, dann ist dieser Eunson tags\u00fcber ein Metzger und Kirchenbeamte gewesen, der sich Nachts zu einem illegalen Destillateur &amp; Whiskyschmuggler &#8220;verwandelt&#8221; hat. 1798 wurde er beim illegalen Destillieren von Whisky auf dem heutigen Gel\u00e4nde erwischt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: Dragon Legend<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Highland Park Dragon Legend zeigt die kr\u00e4ftigste Seite der Insel-Brennerei. Der Single Malt ist besonders intensiv und rauchig. Die Drachen wurden bei den Wikingern gef\u00fcrchtet und gleichzeitig verehrt. Der Legende nach t\u00f6tete der Wikinger-Krieger Sigurd den ber\u00fcchtigten Drachen F\u00e1fnir mit einer List. Mit dem Highland Park Dragon Legend greift die Brennerei von Orkney diesen nordischen Mythos auf. F\u00fcr die Reifung des Highland Park Dragon Legend werden Sherry-seasoned Oak Cask-F\u00e4sser aus europ\u00e4ischer und amerikanischer Eiche verwendet. Mit 43,1 % wird der Dragon Legend etwas st\u00e4rker abgef\u00fcllt als der 12-j\u00e4hrige Single Malt der Brennerei.
