Die Urspr\u00fcnge der Highland Park Destillerie sind, wie so oft, &#8220;Wolken aus Halbwahrheit und Whisky-Mythen&#8221;. Es ist bis heute nicht ganz klar ob Highland Park vom ber\u00fchmten Priester und Schmuggler Magnus Eunson oder vom Farmer David Robertson gegr\u00fcndet wurde. Fakt ist, dass das reich verzierte, schmiedeeiserne Tor der Brennerei auf eine Geschichte von 1798 hinweist. Fakt ist auch, dass sie 1826 eine erste offizielle Lizenz zum Destillieren von Whisky bekamen. Highland Distillers \u00fcbernahmen 1937 die volle Kontrolle am Unternehmen, sodass Highland Park heute Teil der Edrington Group ist. Der Name der Brennerei bezieht sich nicht auf die schottischen Highlands, sondern auf die Tatsache, dass die Brennerei auf einem Gebiet namens &#8220;High Park&#8221; gegr\u00fcndet wurde, das sich von einem niedrigeren Gebiet in der N\u00e4he unterscheidet. Aktuelles j\u00e4hrliches Produktionsvolumen: ca. 2,5 Mio. Liter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Fakt: <\/strong>Highland Park Distillery ist die zweitn\u00f6rdlichste Single Malt Scotch Whisky Destillerie in Schottland (Kimbland Destillerie auf Sanday liegt 22 Meilen weiter n\u00f6rdlich).<strong><br \/>\nFun fact No.2: <\/strong>Sollte der oben beschriebene Mythos stimmen, dass Magnus Eunson Highland Park gegr\u00fcndet hat, dann ist dieser Eunson tags\u00fcber ein Metzger und Kirchenbeamte gewesen, der sich Nachts zu einem illegalen Destillateur &amp; Whiskyschmuggler &#8220;verwandelt&#8221; hat. 1798 wurde er beim illegalen Destillieren von Whisky auf dem heutigen Gel\u00e4nde erwischt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whisky\/Whiskey: Viking Pride 18yo (Batch 2018)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Im Jahr 2017 hat Highland Park &#8220;ihre Wikingerwurzeln&#8221; als Teil ihrer &#8220;history of Orkney&#8221; extrem in Vordergrund gestellt. Die klobigen, rechteckigen Flaschen wurden durch Flaschen mit einem neuen, bodenschweren und geschwungenen Design ersetzt. Hier spielen die Wikingerschnitzereien aus der Orkney-Stabkirche in Urnes eine wesentliche Inspirationsrolle. Mit diesem Rebranding wurde aus dem 18-J\u00e4hrigen der Viking Pride.<br \/>\nIn der Nase findet sich &#8220;eine F\u00fclle von reifen Blumennoten und frischen Bl\u00fcten mit einem k\u00f6stlichen Obstsalat&#8221;. Der Gaumen wird durch &#8220;eine Cremigkeit mit Zimt und Piment, sowie Noten von Toffee und massivem Schwarzwaldhonig&#8221; verw\u00f6hnt.
